Tests of I-STAR technology underway

Since last December YETITMOVES has been incubated in the ESA BIC Center at the Active Space ITech Tecnopolo in Rome, Italy. The I-STAR project, focused on the development of an innovative clinometer (patent pending) based on the astrometric reduction of star fields, was co-funded by the European Space Agency and will last two years. The project involves the installation of an initial prototype based on off-the-shelf components and then, at the beginning of 2021, a test phase based on an advanced prototype made up of totally in-house components. Some tests have already been started using a small professional astronomical mount (10micron GM2000HPS) equipped with absolute encoders capable of achieving sub-arcsecond pointing precision.
